Wedding
& Engagement Announcement Guidelines
The
Albany Herald publishes weddings
and engagements
on Sundays. Basic wedding and engagement announcements cost $20
each and are limited to 200 words. Additional description may
be included at an additional cost. Photographs cost $15 each.
Larger photographs may be used for weddings and engagements for
$30.

Engagement
announcements are limited to the names of the bride and groom,
along with the names of their parents and grandparents. The location
and time of the wedding should be included along with the location
of the reception. Education and employment of the bride and groom
may be included in the engagement announcement.
Additional
information may be included for an additional charge; however,
attendants may be included in wedding
announcements if space allows within the 200 words.
Larger pictures of the bride or bride and groom are available
for $30. The published picture will be approx. 3 1Ú2 x 5". Up
to 75 additional words may be added to describe the dress for
$10. Description of the veil, bride's bouquet, bridesmaid's dresses,
flowers, additional reception decorations, bride and groom's places
of employment will be available for $5 per 50 word item.
When
filling out forms, please list all women with their first name
or as Mrs. with her husband's first name. For example, either
Susan Smith or Mrs. John Smith, not Mrs. Susan Smith. Please
type or print legibly on all forms. Identify family relationships
of members of the wedding party to the bridal couple (sister,
brother, etc.). Photos must be picked up within 30 days
after they are published. They will be returned when a self-addressed
stamped envelope is provided.
Monday,
12 p.m. (Noon), is the deadline for Sunday's edition. (Monday
holidays require a Friday, 5 p.m. deadline instead of the usual
Monday.) Engagements should be published no earlier than six months
prior to the wedding and no later than two weeks before the wedding.
Weddings should be published within six months of the event and
no sooner than a week after the ceremony.
