Otis Henry Wilbon

DAWSON — Retired Master Sergeant Otis Henry Wilbon, commonly referred to as ”Bay” by family members, and was born September 08, 1931 in Bronwood, GA to the late Henry and Lizzie Wilbon.

At an early age, he joined the Second Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, where he remained an active member until his passing. He served on the Usher’s Board and sang in the choir. He was also a member of Second Shiloh’s group, the Spiritual Star Gospel Singers.

He was educated in the public school systems of Terrell County and Dougherty County. He was a 1951 graduate of Monroe High School, Albany, GA. After graduating from high school, he worked for a short period of time in Dawson and Albany, GA. He worked as a driver for a milk company in Albany, GA, as a mechanic for Rigsby’s Garage and he managed/co-managed one of the local night spots in Dawson, GA, ”The Palace”. On January 26, 1953, he was drafted in the United States Army and served his country for 29 years. He began his career as a Military Policeman, and had other various positions. He retired from active duty in the United States Army as a Military Intelligence Instructor in 1982. In 1983, he continued his career with Civil Service as an Electronics Training Instructor. He retired from the Civil Service in 2002 after 19 years of service. Otis served his country for a total of 48 years.

In 1954, he married Catherine Jelena Needham and to this union of 54 years one child was born.

”Bay” departed this life on Thursday, August 7, 2008 at his home In Sierra Vista, Arizona. He was surrounded by his wife, son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter.

He leaves to cherish his memories; a loving wife, Catherine Jelena Needham Wilbon; one son, Eric Wilbon and daughter- in-law, Earnestine Wilbon; three grandchildren, Jared, Erica and Anton Wilbon, all of Leominister, MA; three sisters, Katie Bishop of Dawson, GA, Mary Emma Coleman-Harris (Dea. Rochell) of Albany, GA and Geraldine Teele of Cleveland, OH; one brother, Harris Wilbon (Stacey) of Bronwood, GA; three uncles, Joseph Wilbon (Sandy) of Pittsburgh, PA, Horace Wilbon (Mildred) of Aliquippa, PA and Raybon Wilbon of Cleveland, OH; sister-in- law, Louise Thompson of NY and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

PELHAM — Lille Mae Byrd, 89, of Pelham, passed away at her home on August 8, 2008.

The ”Celebration of Life” will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2008 at Summerhill Missionary Baptist Church with interment to follow at Pelham Memorial Garden. Rev. Maurice Flickln will officiating.

She leave to cherish her memory: two loving and devoted daughters, Mrs. Bloneva McKinnon of Pelham and Ms. Jeannette Byrd of Albany; three grandsons, Javarros S. Byrd (Chandra) of Stone Mountain, Willie Mckinnon Jr., of New York, NY, and Kenneth D. Mckinnon,of East Orange, NJ; two granddaugthers, Pamela Tate- Holloway, of Larenceville, and Kecia A McKinnon,of East Orange, NJ; two great-sons, Keith D. Holloway II, of Savannah State University and Javarrors S. Byrd II, of Stone Mountain; two great-granddaughters Kristen J. Holloway of Florida A&M University and Latashia O. Hinton, of Union County College, of Elizabeth, NJ; on son-in-law James Merriweather, of Pelham.

Caring and loving friends and neighbors, Cheryl Marcus of Pelham, Donna Hampton of Camilla, Christine Cason and Majorie Harris of Pelham, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Stewart, Cecil Walker of Pelham. A devoted niece Pauline Gibson of Meigs. A host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

CAMILLA — Susan Jeanette Stetter, 42, of Albany, died Monday, August 11, 2008 at her residence.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 14 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church with interment in Oakview Cemetery. Father Eric Filmer will officiate.

Pallbearers will include George Stetter, Joseph Stetter, John Luttrell, Joey Stetter, Jr., Danny Stetter, Philip Jones, and Robert Dakota Stetter.

Born April 13, 1966 in Dougherty County, Ms. Stetter was the daughter of the late George Lloyd Stetter.

Survivors include two sons, George Daniel Stetter and Robert Dakota Stetter, both of Albany; her mother, Scarlet Worsham Stetter of Albany; a sister, Veronica Lutrell & husband, John, of Leesburg; two brothers, George Lloyd Stetter, Jr. & wife, Patricia, of Stover, Missouri and Joseph Gregory Stetter of Albany; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 13 at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home.

Etta Martina Kirkland Sumner

TIFTON — Etta Martina ”Tina” Kirkland Sumner, 53, of Tifton, died Friday, August 8, 2008 at her residence. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Bowen-Donaldson, with the Rev. Danny Ray officiating. She was born on June 17, 1955 in Waycross, to Martin Kirkland and Lucille Leverett Bennett, both deceased, she was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Paul Don Bennett. She was a customer service representative.
