NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION
TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE CITY OR LEARY, GA
YOU ARE HEARBY NOTIFIED that on the 15th day of July, 2008, a a special election will be held in the City of Leary (the ``City``). At the special election the qualified voters of the City will elect a successor to fill the vacancy and unexpired term of Council member Hazel Favors, resul ting from the registration of Hazel Favors.
Each candidate seeking to fill the vacancy in the positions of Council member shall file a notice of candidacy at the Leary City Hall during qualifying week. Said notices of candidacy shall be sub mitted beginning at 9:00 a.m. on June 23, 2008 and ending at 12:00 p.m. on June 27, 2008. The qualifying fee for each position is $15.00
The date of such special election shall be and is hereby set for July 15, 2008. The polling precinct (Leary City Hall on Mercer Avenue) shall be opened at 7:00 a.m. and closed at 7:00 p.m. on the day fixed for the election. The election shall be held in accordance and in conformity with the Constitution and laws of the United States of America and of the State of Georgia: and the returns of such election shall be made to the Election Superin tendent of the City of Leary, Georgia, who shall count the votes, consolidate the returns and declare the results of said election in the manner required by law.
The last day to register to vote for said election is Mon day, June 16, 2008.
PURSUANT TO GEORGIA LAW, ALL VOTERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO SHOW PROPER IDENTIFICATION WHEN VOTING.
Proper identification shall in clude the following:
· Georgia driver`s license (even if expired)
· valid state or federal govt. issued photo ID;
· valid Georgia voter card;
· valid employee photo ID from any branch, dept., agency, or entity of the US govt., Georgia, or any county, municipality, board, aut hority, or other entity of the State of Georgia;
· valid U.S. passport ID;
· valid U.S. military photo ID; and
· valid tribal photo ID
If a voter is unable to produce any of the forms of ID above- mentioned, he or she may be allowed to vote by provisional ballot upon the requirements of Georgia law being met.
