It’s been 20 years since the last time a Westwood baseball team reached the state title game, and this year’s Wildcats — a squad composed of six determined seniors, an overdue coach and a supporting cast like no other — seemed destined to finally end the drought.

The Deerfield-Windsor baseball program, which won the GISA Class AAA title in 2003 and last reached the championship series in 2005, is finally back, only this time the Knights will be facing their old nemesis Tattnall Square — the only team to beat DWS all year.

Bravo, Buster
In a sign of great things to come for former Lee County baseball star Buster Posey, the current FSU standout catcher is named the NCAA Division I National Collegiate Baseball Player of the Year.
