‘Peter Pan’ flies into Albany

  • Ballet Theatre South brings the magic of flying to the Albany Municipal Auditorium.

ALBANY — Ballet Theatre South will be performing three shows of “Peter Pan” at the Albany Municipal Auditorium Friday-Sunday.

There will be a 7:30 p.m. performance on Friday, along with a 2:30 p.m. performance on Saturday and Sunday.

Ballet Theatre South is Albany’s local regional ballet company and includes dancers from the Albany and Southwest Georgia area as well as guests artists who are invited to perform with the dancers.

This year, T.C. Carter, a member of the “High School Musical” touring company will be playing Peter’s character and Charles Hagan as Captain Hook and Mr. Darling, with Ballet Theatre South’s Timothy DeMott as John, Alyssa Richards as TinkerBell, Hannah Yarborough as Wendy, Ariel Maschke as Tigler Lily and Stacy Mathis as Mrs. Darling and Queen Mermaid.

Kim Brinkley, president of the Ballet Theatre South, said this production of “Peter Pan” is a break from their usual “Nutcracker” performance.

“We really just chose ‘Peter Pan’ for something that would be fun for children and a story that most children would know,” she said.

The Ballet Theatre South hired a stage production company from Atlanta to help five of the cast members to literally fly across the stage, a feat that Brinkley said the all volunteer production crew and flying cast members quickly adjusted to.

“It’s been fine so far,” she said. “It does take a lot of manpower getting everybody use to it. They got trained in one day.”

Tickets are $12 and are on sale at the Albany Municipal Auditorium. They can be reserved by phone at (229) 395-0915 or at the auditorium box office.
