William Randall Clenney

NASHVILLE — William Randall “Randy” Clenney, 55, of Leesburg died Friday, May 23, 2008 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home, with the Revs. Steve Pickern and Tony Haefs officiating. Interment will be in Nashville Memorial Gardens.

Born on April 9, 1953 in Brooks, Co., Mr. Clenney was the son of the late Richard Randall Clenney and Willie Elizabeth Cook. He was a fire protection specialist and of the Baptist faith. He moved to Albany at age 13 and graduated from Dougherty High School. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed wildlife and loved Nascar.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Browning Clenney of Leesburg.

Visitation will be held Monday from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. at Lovin Funeral Home in Nashville, GA.

Christine Hilton Cook

FITZGERALD — Christine Hilton Cook, 85, of Fitzgerald, died Friday, May 23, 2008 at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.

Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. today (Sunday) at the Central United Methodist Church in Fitzgerald, with Dr. Buddy Cooper and the Rev. Steve Waldorf officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

Mrs. Cook was born April 1, 1923 in Waycross, GA, to the late C.C. and Leila Walker Hilton. She was a 1939 graduate of Fitzgerald High School and also graduated from South Georgia College. She was the retired owner and administrator of the Osceola Nursing Home in Ocilla. She was an active member of Central United Methodist Church and the Friendship Sunday school class.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Lydia Cook of Fitzgerald; two grandsons, Kyle Cook and Mark Cook, both of Fitzgerald; companion and friend, Ed Cox of Fitzgerald; one sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Robert Deyo of Collierville, TN; one brother and sister-in-law, Sammie and Leola Hilton of Tifton; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude B. “Bud” Cox; five brothers, Maxwell Hilton, James Hilton Sr., Hoit Hilton, Bill Hilton, and Christopher Hilton; and four sisters, Louise Hilton Kirkland, Lois Hilton Carter, Inez Hilton Kirkland, and Virginia Hilton Laminack.

James Theodore Gordon

DAWSON — James Theodore “JT” Gordon, 95, of Dawson, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, May 23, 2008 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, Albany, GA. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 26, 2008 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Albany. The Rev. Dr. Daniel Simmons will officiate. Interment to follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Dawson.

Mr. Gordon was born January 10, 1913 in Ochlocknee, GA to the late James Sylvester Gordon. He was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Albany. A graduate of Tuskegee Institute (Tuskegee University), Tuskegee, AL. Mr. Gordon began his career in education as a Vocational Agriculture Instructor in the Terrell County School System. He was principal at Dunbar Elementary School, Sasser, GA, and later principal at Lillie Cooper Elementary School, Dawson.

After retiring, Mr. Gordon worked as a salesman at Arnold Chevrolet and as a Terrell County Tax Assessor. He served as Chairman of the Dawson Housing Authority Board, and was on the Board of the Terrell County Department of Family and Children’s Services (DFACS). Mr. Gordon was selected as the Terrell County Chamber of Commerce’s “Man of the Year” in 1993. He was a World War II Veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Avon Gordon, sisters, Marie Gordon Lindsay and Agnes Gordon Jackson.

Mr. Gordon is survived by his wife, Kathryn Jackson Gordon; daughter, Kay Gordon Brandon, and her husband, Donald G. Brandon of Greensboro, NC; daughter, Theodora Patricia Gordon “Thea”, of Fayetteville, GA; grandson, Donald Gordon Brandon “Brandy”, of Lake Charles, LA; brothers, Odis Gordon of Cleveland, OH, Earl Gordon (Louise) of Tallahassee, FL; sisters, Connie Gordon Bass of Atlanta, Juanita Gordon Dunnom (Daniel) of Chicago, IL; and a host of nieces and nephews and close friends.
