Douglas Edwards
ALBANY Douglas Edwards, 92, of Georgetown, died Thursday May 22, 2008 in
Tuskegee, AL.
The funeral service will be today 2 PM at Kimbrell-Stern with interment to
follow in Floral Memory Gardens with military honors. The Rev. Bill Sanders
will officiate.
A native of Opp, AL, Mr. Edwards lived in Albany several years before moving
to Georgetown in 1979 after retiring from Dougherty County Environmental
Health, after a 27 year career. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and working in his
garden and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Edwards served his country in the U.
S. Army during W.W.II and was a survivor of the Bataan Death March and 42
months in a Japanese POW camp.
Survivors include his wife Daisy Sketo Edwards of Georgetown, a son, Arnold
Edwards of Ft. Gaines, Two daughters, Gloria Jean Harrison and husband Jim of
Kennesaw, GA, Glenda Strong and husband Bo of Suwanee, 3 grandchildren, Chalon
Lea McCauley and husband Chuck of Powder Springs, Willis Walker III and wife
Jennifer of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Kristy Marie Edwards of Bascom, FL., three
great grandchildren, Jonathon Smith of Bascom, FL, Morgan Taylor McCauley of
Powder Springs and Carson Walker of Mt. Pleasant, SC., sister-in-law Elizabeth
Edwards of Columbus and a special family friend Linda Smith of Albany. He was
preceded in death by his parents Albert and Cora Edwards, brother Bishop
Edwards and a sister Eleanor Edwards Granger.
The family will receive friends at Kimbrell-Stern Saturday from 1 PM till
funeral hour.

Patricia Speer Lunday
ALBANY Mrs. Patricia Speer Lunday, died May 23, 2008.
Her memorial service will be Sunday 3 PM at Riverside Cemetery.
Born in Macon, Mrs. Lunday had lived in Albany for a number of years. She was
a homemaker and attended Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church. Mrs.
Lunday was preceded in death by a daughter Patricia Patty Lunday and a
sister Billie Speer Collins.
Survivors include her daughter Beverly Hinson and her husband Gene, Albany;
son Michael Lunday and wife Terry, Apollo Beach, FL; grandchildren, Amanda
Lunday, Jessica Lunday and Michael Lunday.

Memorial Hospital.

H.A. Smith, Jr.
ALBANY Mr. H.A. (Pete) Smith, Jr. 67 of 394 Lumpkin Rd. East in Leesburg,
GA died May 22, 2008 at St. Francis Medical Center in Columbus, GA
The funeral service will be Sunday 2 PM at Leesburg Cemetery. Rev. Bobby Moye
and Rev. Bobby Wood officiating.
A native of Leesburg, Mr. Smith was a member of Leesburg Baptist Church and
was retired from the United States Postal Service with 30 plus years of
service. He loved to fish and was very involved with his grandchildrens
sports activities.
Survivors include his wife Judy Smith of Leesburg, daughter, Faye Smith and
her husband Luke of Dawson, son, H.A. (Trey) Smith, III of Leesburg,
grandchildren, Mallori Walker and Alex Smith, aunts, Sallie Breeden of
Leesburg, Lee Breeden of Florida and Leslie Breeden of Leesburg, numerous
nieces and nephews.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, H.A. (Buddy) Smith, Sr. and
his wife Artie Mae Breeden Smith, brother, Harvey Smith.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 PM till 7:30 PM at
Kimbrell-Stern.
