FITZGERALD — Sara Livingston “Sug” Farmer, 79, of Fitzgerald, died Sunday, May 18 at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald. Memorial services will be private.

Hazel Foster Mims

DAWSON — Mrs. Hazel Foster Mims, 82, of Albany, formerly of Dawson died on Sunday, May 18, 2008 at Palmyra Nursing Home. the funeral service will be held 11 A.M. on Wednesday, May 21, at the graveside in Cedar Hill Cemetery with Dr. Robert Williams and Rev. David Felton officiating.

Mrs. Mims was born in Parrott, August 1, 1925, daughter of the late Samuel M. Foster and Ruby Peak Foster. She grew up in Terrell Co. and graduated from Bronwood High School. She was a retired telephone operator from AT&T. She began her career with General Telephone Company in Dawson, and she retired from AT&T in 1989 with 39 years of service.

She was a member of the Dawson United Methodist Church, the Albany Grandmothers Club, Golden Key, Senior Friends, AT&T Pioneers, Sowega Council on Aging, Keenagers, Happy Hearts and Young at Hearts.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Alton Mims, Sr., and a brother, Donald M. Foster.

Survivors include a son, Alton Mims and wife, Judy, of Dawson, a sister, Margie M. Foster, of Dawson, brother, Wayne R. Foster and wife, Eugenia, of Blakley, two granddaughters, Alison Christensen of Silverdale, WA, Stephanie Hayes of Thomasville, five great-grandchildren, Jamison Hall, Sam Christensen and Eli Christensen, all of Silverdale, WA, Makenzie Hayes and Avery Hayes, of Thomasville, three nieces and two nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Dawson United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 167, Dawson, GA 39842.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, 6-7:30 P.M. at Harvey Funeral Home.

John N. Smith

ALBANY — LCDR John N. Smith, 83, of Albany passed away Friday, May 16, 2008 at Lillian Carter Nursing Home in Plains.

Memorial services will be conducted Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at 11 A.M. in the chapel of Hall and Hall Funeral Home with Dr. H.W. Rutledge officiating. Full military honors will follow the service.

John N. Smith was born July 2, 1924 to the late John Gordon and Annie Laura Cobb Smith. He served this country in the Navy SEEBEES as Lt. Colonel for thirty years and six months having served in WWII and the Vietnam Era. Mr. Smith served a tour of duty in the Antarctic and was awarded many metals including; Good Conduct Medal with 3 stars, American Theater, European Theater one star, WWII Victory Medal, National Defense Medal one star, Antarctic Service Medal Bronze Dias, Bronze Star with Combat V, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal with one silver star and two bronze, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces Meritorious, Unit Citation (Gallantry Cross), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces Meritorious Unit Citation (Civil Actions Medal Color with Palm).

He attended the Liberty Parkway Church of God and retired form the Marine Logistics Base.

Survivors include his loving wife of 38 years, Edith G. Woodmore Smith of Albany; four sons, John Allen Smith, and his wife Stacy of MARYLAND, Richard Edward Smith and his wife Jan of Columbus, Nolon James Smith and his wife Phyllis of Tallahassee, FL. and Robert Wesley Smith of Albany, one sister, Betty Smith of Columbus, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends one hour before the memorial service at the funeral home.

Henry Grady Stewart, Jr.

ALBANY — Henry Grady Stewart, Jr., 86, of 1904 Greenvale Road, Albany, GA died May 18, 2008. Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. Riverside Cemetery. Rev. Roy Cook will officiate.

A native of Randolph County, GA, Mr. Stewart had resided in Albany since 1947 moving from Shellman, GA. He was a World War II Air Force veteran and was a member of The American Legion Post {pound} 30. He retired from Pritchett Ford after thirty years and was a member of Gillionville Baptist Church where he attended the Hounds and Hares Sunday School Class.

Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Grady Stewart and Bessie Manry Stewart and his brothers, Manry Stewart, Edgar Stewart, Thomas Stewart and Fred Stewart.

Survivors include his wife of fifty nine years, Evelyn White Stewart of Albany, GA three daughters, Donna Scozzari of Albany, GA, Janice Bentley and her husband, Freddie of Cuthbert, GA and Kay Simmons and her husband, Harry of Hoschton, GA, five grandchildren, Stephanie Dollar, Jeremy Dollar and Maison Scozzari all of Albany, GA, Harry Simmons III of Suwannee, GA and Kyle Simmons of Rostock, Germany and one great-grandchild, Aiden Dollar of Albany, GA.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. today at Mathews Funeral Home.
