Wife allegedly sets bed on fire

LEESBURG — A Lee County man told deputies that his estranged wife set fire to their bed using his expensive Bolinar Cigars and stole more than $1,000 worth of jewelry, police reports show.

According to an incident report filed with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Nathaniel Page told deputies that he saw Andrea Page’s car parked in his driveway on Hawkstead Drive Tuesday night and that lights were on in his house. Page told police he waited until his estranged wife came out of the house because he was worried a confrontation may get “physical.”

Page told deputies that when she did leave the house, they got into a verbal argument during which she told him that she had set fire to his bed, the report shows.

Nathaniel Page then ran inside as his wife sped out of the driveway and found his bed on fire, officers said. After a couple of buckets full of water, the fire was extinguished, the report indicated.

Nathaniel Page told deputies that five of his cigars — valued at $115 — were missing, along with various watches, a bracelet, a ring and his wedding band. The stolen items were valued at more than $1,110, the report says.

Investigators noted in the report that they took photos of the crime scene and attempted to locate Page’s wife with no results. Warrants for first degree arson, burglary and theft by taking are expected to be taken in the case.
