Stolen car is stolen again

  • A vehicle that was stolen last week and recovered Sunday morning is stolen again, according to police records.

ALBANY — An Albany man’s vehicle that was recovered Sunday morning was stolen again less than eight hours later, Albany police records show.

Tartuvino Wester’s 1997 Cadillac was reported stolen on Valentine’s Day by Lakesia Peterson. She told police that she was driving it to pick up her children from day care when she left it running outside the building on Odom Avenue. After exiting the day care she saw a man inside the car drive off, a police report shows.

Peterson was using the vehicle with Wester’s permission, police said.

At about 10 a.m. Sunday, police found the car abandoned at a mobile home park on the 600 block of Johnson Road, the report shows. Because the car thieves took the keys with them, the car was left at the mobile home park.

At about 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Eric Wester, the victim’s brother, told police the car was missing again. A woman who lived at the mobile home park called Wester to tell him the car was gone, police said.

The car is worth about $8,000 and has a Georgia tag number of BQ4AVC. Anyone who sees the car can call police at (229) 431-3288.

Police arrested Willie Roy Wilson, 17, on a charge of theft by receiving stolen goods Sunday in connection with Thursday’s theft. He was released on bond.

Witnesses said Wilson and three other people left the vehicle at the Johnson Road mobile home park, according to the police report. The other three men were not described in police reports.
