Albany teen shot multiple times

  • Dearious Williams is listed in good ocndition after being shot several times late Wednesday night.

ALBANY — An Albany teenager was gunned down in his grandmother’s front yard in what police documents show may have been a gang-related incident.

Hospital officials say that 17-year-old Dearious Williams is in good condition after sustaining multiple gunshots to the back, chest and head at 11:20 p.m. Wednesday on Gillespie Avenue.

According to police reports, family members said they heard what they thought were five gunshots and saw Williams run into the house and collapse on the floor.

When police arrived, they reportedly found Williams lying face down on the floor, his white T-shirt covered in blood.

Reports show that police found wounds to Williams’ rib area and a single shot to the back of the head.

Williams’ two brothers reportedly told police that they had seen two black males with dreadlocks with one wearing a gray or black jacket and the other wearing a white T-shirt.

In a separate report, a man claiming to be Williams’ cousin told his girlfriend who told police, that the shooting was part of an ongoing feud between two Albany street gangs.

Police officials downplayed the potential gang implication Thursday saying that the investigation is ongoing and that, at this point, nothing suggests Williams had any gang involvement.
